I fully agree with this article. Going live doesn't only help you grow, it also leads to having real unfiltered conversations. Thank you for sharing this 💛
It’s interesting, I’ve found myself naturally focusing less on subscriber count over the last month or so. It could be because it slowed so I got less poofs if dopamine watching the number climb. Hadn’t really thought of that until now!
Recently after having one of those slow periods, I've picked up momentum in my subscribers. I agree Claudia that it really does seem to ebb and flow and you just need to stay the course.
I've been playing a bit with LinkedIn again but so far haven't seen much benefit. Seems pretty dead over there but I'm going to give it a bit longer.
The "part of the cycle" reframe is so important. I run a few things solo and the flat periods always feel personal until you zoom out and realize everyone's hitting the same wall at the same time. The ones who keep showing up during the plateau are the ones still standing when it breaks.
You make some good points! There's a couple of things I'm going to focus on. Advertising outside Substack on platforms I don't feel cringey about, although there are few of them.
pop ups are more for your own websites - but you can mimic them here, e.g. through countdowns and reminders of price increase or discounts.. not super ideal, but better than nothing :)

Very helpful and insightful!
thank you!!
This was good to read, It does feel like plateauing at times and having a strategy in mind keeps you going

Thank you for this!!! I needed to see it💯💯💯
I’m so glad :)
number 2 is key!
i'm just realizing this now, but over the past two weeks, I've added a free lead magnet to my welcome email to the free subscribers.
I’m going to double down on #5 too.
smart!

I love this perspective. It’s so easy to make slow growth mean something about you or your work… when really it’s just part of the cycle.
The people who keep going anyway are the ones who end up reaching the people they’re meant to help.

thanks for sharing that!

And adding content that is exclusive.
Thanks for your suggestions!
for sure :)
Love these tips! How far in advance do you announce your lives?
thanks! usually I actually go Live pretty spontaneously
I’ve got a question. How do the pop ups work? How do you create them in Substack? How do you time them?
