How I Got 618 Beautiful Subscribers in 90 Days

Building a supportive community, one person at a time

Earlier this year, my startup went to edge of needing to close down. We had to let people go, investors were coming at us for what the hell was going on, and I felt miserable. I promised myself that I never want to feel that way again.

Every time somebody asked me how I was doing and how things were going with the startup, I just wanted to escape. I wanted to have nothing to do with it.

But I kept my head high and did what I had to do. Keep the company alive until we get our clinical results from a study that is still running. The outcome is still not clear, but the company survived for now.

This entire process I’ve been through taught me something valuable.

That I wanted to not be dependent on others. Just on myself.

I know I can trust myself when it comes to building something up and I also know that I CAN accomplish things when I set my mind to it. The failure of my startup opened my eyes and I started to understand that I wanted to be a solopreneur.

In March, I decided to take the jump into the cold water and started my online writing business.

September marks my 6th month online writing and building a business. And while I am not there yet to really fully make a living out of it, I am on a good way.

Substack played a huge role in this as well.

In the last 90 days, I was able to convince 618 wonderful people to sign up to my newsletter Wander Wealth. To come onto a journey with me into

• Writing convincing posts

• Monetizing online writing on the way.

I have put my entire energy and focus on Substack as I feel that here I can be myself and build a community that supports and cares about each other.

And of course, it was tough in the beginning.

My first month was a disaster on Substack and I got stuck at a whopping 30 subscribers. Simply because it took me long to figure out how to actually use Substack smartly.

Slowly, I figured out what I needed to do that seemed to work
