I Accidentally Discovered Substack's Subscriber Page Secret
Did you know you can personalize your subscribe page?
Substack is on fire. 🔥
Today, they announced 5 million paid subscriptions—just four months after reaching 4 million. It’s clear that something big is happening.
Paid subscribers are showing up more and more and what I want to share with you today can help you increase your conversion rate from free into paid subscribers.
I launched my Substack last May with no following whatsoever. Within six months, I became a Substack Bestseller and built an incredible community. Ready to start earning from your writing in 2025? Let me show you the fast-track steps.
How to Unlock Substack's Hidden Subscriber Growth Hack
The other day I was scrolling through Substack thinking that I wanted to upgrade to a few other subscriptions. So I went to some /subscribe pages and checked out their offer.
To my surprise, I saw that they didn’t have the standard offer page. Nope. They were individualizing the subscribe page, so it looked something like mine now.
How awesome is that?!
You can create a custom message explaining why people should sign up—and even throw in a discount if you want.
I went with:
“A no-brainer investment in this newsletter: I’ll help you 10x your return.”
It’s a $100 investment that sets you on the path to earning your first $1,000 with your words on Substack. A no-brainer.
To stand out and give the final push to people becoming paid subscribers, let’s see how to set it up.
It took me quite a while to figure that out, so I hope you will find this shortcut helpful.
How to Set it Up the Right way
It’s pretty straightforward, once you know it.
Go to your dashboard (you need to have a publication for this).
Go to your settings.
Go to your payments and scroll down to discounts.
Click on manage next to special offers.
Click on New special offer.
Give it a name + a description.
Decide for a % discount.
Under More options, click on the checkbox for “Give this offer to anyone who subscribes (no link required).”
Optional: make it available only for annual plans. That’s what I did.
And there you have it.
You might be wondering why to give discounts forever: well because the truth is, that’s what works. People like to sign up for discounts and feel that they've gotten a good deal.
Pro-tip: I increased my annual price to then give this discount, so people end up with the same price they need to pay.

This is very helpful! I think it's time to revamp my subscriber page. Thanks.
Thanks Claudia. I knew this but had missed the option for give this offer to anyone who subscribes …which is cool given we are trying to offer our current promo until 150 paid.
