I saw one Substack creator who said that Substack promotes your content much more when you paywall (some of) your content. Do you know if that’s true? 🤔 I was wondering if I should already make some paid posts from the start if it stimulates the algorithm but I’m not sure if it’s true.

I am not 100% certain about it either, but it would make sense to me. seeing that this is part of their business model and that’s how they earn money (they take a 10% commission fee)

Yeah, that was basically the theory the other creator had too. Makes sense :) I'll just keep trying and exploring!

I'd add that some of us, as starters, are bringing dozens of new users to Substack thanks to sharing our publications on other social networks. This is also great value for Substack

Thanks for the useful tips. Yes, I'm waiting patiently for my subscribers to grow ... In the beginning, when I joined Substack, I was planning to quit Medium, but, I realized that here, I need to wait some months before going paid, in which case, I will need to keep second option to earn money 💰 ,hence, ditched the idea of dumping Medium. After all, we are all here to earn money, as well, right? I am also going to do some marketing on my Pinterest as well, to gain some attention.

I am reluctant to publish 2-3 newsletter per week as if anyone is sending me that many emails, even if they are interesting, I will hit unsubscribe. Thoughts?

Expand full comment

yeah, I had the same feeling in the beginning. but if you make it valuable information and people enjoy your content, then it should be fine. I think 2 e-mails per week are good (the third one maybe only in the beginning, when you really want to grow)

These are greatt. How do you manage to post 2-3 times a week. That would definitely be a challenge for me as I have a full-time job.

Recently, I started taking my notes serious. And the amount of traction I have got is unbelievable

do what works for you - I am very flexible in my job so can make it work to write 2-3 posts per week. and using notes is awesome, that can really have a huge impact

Great job. Making it more personal is key. I have medium articles too but they don’t have the personal touch. Need to make sure I incorporate that.
