Yes, turn on payments as soon as possible. Even with 0 subscribers. This tells people you are building a business.

The hard part is choosing what you offer to paid subscribers. Paywalled content is the least attractive offer, unless you have hundreds of paywalled articles.

Services are more enticing.

true that - I think it's good to figure things out on the go. you can also ask your subscribers what they are looking for etc. just start it off and see where it goes. pivot on the way

Pivoting is the rule, especially in the beginning.

And Substack is also changing quickly, another reason to keep changing with it.

Thank you for these insights, Claudia. It's always a good idea to turn on paid as soon as possible. I am yet to do this though and hopefully just as we begin the last quarter of the year. I'll definitely be using some of these insights. Thank you once again.
