Sub headings, no more than four lines in a paragraph, single line sentences are fine. Probably a bunch of things but I don’t think of it, I just do it if that makes sense.
Great advice as always! As a seasoned writer, especially in digital media, I can say you have hit the main points! Nothing hurts my brain more than to see either one huge block of texts or multiple paragraphs of block text.
This underlines one of the key concepts I used to teach my screenwriting students: Concision is everything in a screenplay. Make every word count and make every page readable. If you don't, they won't read past page ten.
The tricky thing is to say everything you need to with as few words as possible. So much fun to do that.
Claudia, first of all, thank you! Your clarity in describing helpful hints is wonderful.
I love the advice and want to challenge myself with your “pointers.” However, since I have written in a particular format for years, I am struggling with changing that. I typically use “Google Docs” and/or “Microsoft Word” for my writings. I will then “copy and paste” to Substack.
Maybe I create some posts directly through Substack and see what I produce.
thanks for your thoughtful comment, Ron. funny, I had another person telling me that they write on Google Docs and then copy it over. so interesting. I only write in Substack right away and really like it. let me know how it goes if you give it a try :)
glad they help!:)
Exactly! Sub heads and white space lets the words breathe.
White space - yes - I've noticed how hard it is to read long dense paragraphs.
that’s right 🤩

right?! :D glad that you agree 🧡
Design...thanks for this. I typically write in an other space (like Word) and then copy over and it's easy to forget this piece.
ah, interesting! thanks for sharing that as well
Thanks for the tip. I’ll try implementing this in the next few post
fantastic 🧡
Story first, even in the tweet stylings of Cole.
The 3-act format is how we're wired.
The message is what pulls the reader through - with help from riveting prose...
Yes you’re an awesome inspiration along with a few others

Does the 1-3-1 serve as a whole post? Or an intro?
1-3-1 can be a for paragraphs.. so I like to use it here and there throughout my newsletter/posts
Thank you, Claudia, for the helpful tips!
so happy it helps :)
